During the Farnborough Airshow yesterday, AgustaWestland took the wraps off its newest type—the AW169. The multi-role helicopter is intended for the EMS, search and rescue, law enforcement, offshore transport and utility sectors. The 4.5-ton class AW169 will feature Pratt & Whitney PW210 engines, a digital automatic flight control system (DAFCS) with dual FMS capability, and custom equipment upgrades to include a rescue hoist, cargo hook, weather radar, searchlight and EMS interior. AgustaWestland anticipates a market for nearly 1,000 AW169s over the course of two decades.
