Sikorsky S-92 operators have collectively gone over 250,000 flight hours since the model entered service in September 2004, according to the Stratford, Conn.-based manufacturer. The six-year pace stands as the fastest Sikorsky variant to reach the mark. Sikorsky attributes this to the fact that up to 90 percent of S-92s operate in the offshore oil and gas industry. Eight offshore companies account for 75 of 117 S-92s in the air, including one of the S-92’s largest operators—Bristow, which accounts for more than 74,000 of the quarter-million fleet hours.
