Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) has selected Cobham antennas and avionics for the Korean Utility Helicopter (KUH). The long-term contract calls for Cobham Antenna Systems to build the comm/nav antennas in the UK, with a navigation transceiver coming from U.S. division Cobham Avionics and Surveillance. KAI will manufacture the “Surion” in Sacheon, South Korea, with plans for up to 245 helicopters over the next 10 years. The KUH is set to replace a fleet of Bell UH-1Hs and MD500s.
