Uniflight has assembled a team of suppliers to design, certify, sell and support a Rolls-Royce engine upgrade STC for the Bell 206 A, B and L. “There are over 3,500 Jet Rangers in operation around the world,” explained Joseph Hawke, Uniflight CEO. “One thing they all have in common is the need for decreased DOCs [direct operating costs] and increased hot-and high-performance.” At the heart of the STC program is the Rolls-Royce RR500 engine, which will deliver a number of performance improvements including up to 61 more shp, cooler starts and increased turbine and compressor lives. Hawke said that STC approval is expected in the second quarter of 2013.
