MD Secures Army Training Contract

Mesa, Ariz.-based MD Helicopters has won a contract from the U.S. Army’s Rotary Wing Primary Training Aircraft (RWPTA) for an initial six MD530Fs. The agreement, which features options for up to 54 helicopters over four years, has a potential value of up to $186 million. The first six Rolls-Royce 250-C30-powered MD530Fs will be used in Shindand, Afghanistan, serving in a training role. The contract also includes provisions for spares.
