Erickson Air-Crane has reached a memorandum of understanding with a consortium of Chinese aviation companies for the sales, manufacturing, MRO and general operations capabilities of five S-64s. “This is the next step in a proof-of-concept program that we hope will lead to a long relationship with Chinese customers,” explained Erickson President & CEO Udo Rieder, adding that the S-64 offers emergency equipment service operators “a diverse array of heavy-lift capabilities.” Along with the five S-64s, the MOU includes Erickson’s Aircrane Incident Response Systems (AIRS) program. The Chinese AIRS program includes rescue baskets, fire tank, cargo pod and other components. (From April 2011 Rotorcraft Report)
