During its most recent flight test on May 12, Eurocopter’s X3 (X-cube) demonstrator reached a true airspeed of 232 knots. Test pilot Herve Jammayrac and flight test engineer Daniel Semioli were at the controls for the flight from DGA Flight Test Center in Istres, France. The milestone put the hybrid helicopter demonstrator above its original target of 220 knots. Eurocopter began airborne trials of the X3 in September 2010, hitting a speed of 180 knots in November last year.
