BAE Systems has been contracted by the Royal Australian Navy to develop a training system for landing helicopter dock (LHD) ships. The training program will utilize computer simulation, virtual scenarios and avatars. Once established, the training program could be easily modified for air warfare destroyers, guided missile frigates and the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, said a BAE Systems spokesman. The first training package is slated for delivery in 2013.
