Abu Dhabi-based Falcon Aviation Services (FAS) has become the first offshore oil and gas operator to use BLR Aerospace’s FastFin tail rotor enhancement and stability system on its Bell 412EP. The UAE operator ordered a total of 10 FastFin systems for its full 412 fleet following field trials of the system.

A.J. Baker, FAS vice president of business development and strategy, notes that FastFin provides “a significant safety benefit when operating from offshore platforms, where space restrictions and obstacles are always a factor.”

BLR Aerospace will take questions about the system during this year’s show at Booth 8846. According to Dave Marone, vice president of sales and marketing for BLR, FastFin aftermarket sales jumped more than 80 percent over the past year.

Operators across the spectrum are choosing the tail rotor upgrade, including from the firefighting, police, medical, offshore and personnel/VIP transport sectors.
