Denmark Purchases Nine Sikorsky MH-60Rs

The U.S. Navy has inked a $686-million contract with the Danish Ministry of Defence for nine Sikorsky MH-60Rs through the foreign military sales (FMS) program. The Seahawk purchase is part of a fleet replacement program involving the Danish Westland Lynx Mk90B helicopters, which began flying in 2000. The agreement calls for the first MH-60R to enter service in 2016, conducting SAR, troop transport, medevac, humanitarian relief and ship-to-ship replenishment operations, in addition to its main role as an anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare helicopter.
