Kazan Helicopters has contracted Telephonics Corp. to supply 85 RDR-1600 weather avoidance/search and rescue (SAR) radars for a fleet of Mi-17V-5s on order from the Indian Air Force.

This is the second order for the RDR-1600s from Kazan, after the recent order of 93 systems for another fleet of Indian Air Force helicopters.

Telephonics plans to begin deliveries of the systems to Kazan in summer 2013.
