Russian Helicopters Introduces Global Firefighting Initiative

Russian Helicopters has launched its Global Helicopter Firefighting Initiative (GHFI) Thursday, a program aimed at developing more innovative technologies for firefighting helicopters.

Manufacturers of rotorcraft firefighting systems are participating in GHFI to improve the ability to develop new engineering solutions, the company said.

The Ka-32A11BC is Russian Helicopters’ firefighting variant, featuring a collapsible Bambi Bucket and water canon. It received Australian airworthiness certification in December 2012, and will be on display at the Avalon 2013 show in Australia next week.
