The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has granted ground-level approval for night vision goggles (NVG) operations on a Bond Offshore Helicopters Eurocopter EC135. According to Bond, the EASA certification applies to a night vision imaging system (NVIS) modification on an EC135 that is used for air ambulance service in the UK. The modification included installing moving maps, an engine usage monitoring system and a powerline detection system. The company is now in the process of securing operational approval for the modifications from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
