The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has approved the Astronics Corp.’s Max-Viz-1500 enhanced vision system (EVS) for retrofit installations on Bell 206 and 407 helicopters.

Astronics Executive Vice President Elliot Troutman said the company expects China to be the world’s “strongest helicopter growth market” over the next decade, and that the EVS approval will ensure visibility for pilots flying in severe atmospheric weather conditions due to weather and smog in the country.

CAAC’s approval comes as Bell moves forward with a recently signed memorandum of understanding to establish a maintenance training facility for Bell 206 and 407 helicopters in China’s Guangdong Province.

Max-Viz EVS will be on display at Booth N3313 during Heli-Expo 2013 in Las Vegas, March 5-7.
