Malaysia’s Weststar Aviation Services has agreed to purchase eight helicopters from AgustaWestland, consisting of a pair of large-cabin AW189s and a six-pack of AW139s. Tan Sri Syed Azman Syed Ibrahim, Weststar’s group managing director, says the helicopters will support overseas expansion of the company’s offshore oil and gas operations, including to Africa, South America and the Middle East. Weststar has ordered a total of 30 helicopters from AgustaWestland since 2010, 24 of which are AW139s, as well as four AW189s and two AW169s.
