GE Gains CH-53K Tooling Support Contract

The U.S. Navy has issued a contract for more than $7.5 million to Lynn, Mass.-based General Electric covering the critical hard tooling required for the GE38-1B engines on the in-development Sikorsky CH-53K Super Stallion. Sixty percent of the work will take place at facilities in Lynn, Morristown, Tenn. and Groton, Conn. (20 percent each), with 10 percent each at locations on Hooksett (New Hampshire), Fort Wayne (Indiana), North Clarendon (Vermont) and Albany, Ore. Completion of the contract is projected for November 2014.
