Portland, Ore.-based Simplex Aerospace has reached an agreement with the Changhe manufacturing facility in China to develop a Fire Attack system specifically for the Avicopter AC313. The tank for the AVIC-produced AC313 will carry more than 1,000 gallons of water, or around 4,000 liters. The contract calls for deliveries of “multiple” units through 2014.

The Fire Attack system employs a retractable pump that is currently in service with the Eurocopter EC225 and Sikorsky S-70 Firehawk. President & CEO Mark Zimmerman noted that in 2014, Simplex plans to equip the AC313 with Sky Cannon, a water cannon designed to suppress fires at for high-rise buildings.
