During Helitech, engine maker Turbomeca made public a contract with the Netherlands Air Force involving overhauls for a fleet of Makila 1A2 powerplants. The €25-million (roughly $34-million) agreement covers repair, overhaul and maintenance on the Makilas that power a fleet of 17 Eurocopter AS532 Cougars. The helicopters have carried out a variety of roles, including in Afghanistan, as part of firefighting operations and for anti-piracy missions in the Horn of Africa.
