E-volo has completed the first flight of its prototype Volocopter VC200. The flight took place on Sunday, Nov. 17 in the dm-arena in Kalsruhe, Germany. Volocopter receives power from 18 electrical rotors, eliminating emissions for a new green helicopter concept, according to E-volo.

Initial flights lasted several minutes each, allowing the Volocopter to nearly reach the 72-foot ceiling of the dm-arena. According to a statement from E-volo, the prototype model used for the test flights will be ready for series production "in the coming years."
