The New York Police Department (NYPD) has received a new Bell 429 from Bell Helicopter, the first of four airframes to be delivered by the end of 2015. The department also operates a Bell 407 for training purposes, and two Bell 412EPs for missions including search and rescue and intelligence gathering. The NYPD currently operates four AgustaWestland AW119 Koala helicopters that will be traded in once the remaining Bell 429s are delivered.
