The Australian Army now has the best available visual simulation for its AS665 Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter (ARH) Tiger training, according to Thales.

The company has announced that it delivered ahead of schedule an upgrade to the Full Flight Mission Simulator’s (FFMS) Visual Display System (VDS) which will enhance the realism for pilots.

The upgrade was delivered by working with prime contractor Airbus Group Australia Pacific.

The dual-dome simulator now houses BARCO F35 projectors and a new image generator which provides crews with a 240 degree vertical by 85 degree horizontal field of view. It is accredited to CASA FSD-1 Level 5 (Level D equivalent).
