Era Group has opened a new 35-acre super base in Houma, La., composed of a passenger terminal and climate-controlled hangar, which will house more than 30 aircraft and facilitate approximately 15,000 passengers per month traveling to and from offshore oil and gas installations in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The base, says Era, will streamline the processing of passengers through the use of automated kiosks, increased baggage transfer capabilities, enhanced security screening and additional customer service functions. The terminal's customer waiting area is equipped with a variety of amenities including real-time Era flight status screens, televisions and guest wi-fi. Other amenities include expanded parking areas and shuttle services. Its safety-oriented features include enhanced storm protection, reduced flyaway limitations and an infrastructure to designed to increase the reliability of flight operations in all weather conditions.
