Swedish unmanned aerial system manufacturer CybAero has received approval to deliver its first APID One helicopter to China, the company says. The Linköping, Sweden-based company received an export license from the Swedish Agency for Non-Proliferation and Export Controls June 26, it said, and its customer—the Aviation Industry Corporation of China—has approved delivery of a demonstrator following factory and flight tests. The demonstrator will support an order—valued at roughly $90 million—that the customer (also known as AVIC) placed last July for 70 APID Ones. The demonstrator is in addition to that order. The “framework agreement” covers eight years; CybAero expects to deliver the first five APID Ones under that pact later this year. The 10.5-foot-long APID One is a conventional helicopter design with a 10.8-foot-diameter main rotor with a maximum takeoff weight of 400-450 pounds, depending on the design variant. In related news, CybAero canceled plans announced June 22 for a private placement of its stock, saying it could not secure attractive terms for it or its shareholders at this time.
