Bell Helicopter's delivery of the last of eight 412EPs to the Philippine Department of National Defense was acknowledged today during a flag-raising ceremony at the Villamor Air Base in the Philippines. The department will use the helicopters for combat utility and VIP transport. The 412EPs were purchased in compliance with DND modernization requirements and with government-to-government contracting support from the Canadian Commercial Corporation. The Bell H-13 Sioux, a variant of the Bell 47, was the first helicopter to enter service with the Philippine Air Force in 1955. The air force has operated derivatives of the Bell UH-1H since the late 1960s. In 1994, the service received its first two Bell 412s.
