Air Evac Lifeteam this month celebrated 30 years of service as an air medical transport provider. The company was founded Aug. 1, 1985, to serve small communities in West Plains, Mo. with a single helicopter and has since grown to include 115 air medical bases in 15 states. President Seth Myers believes the company's model of putting "a helicopter where it was needed most—a rural community" was a unique one at the time it was established, saying that the norm was for medical helicopters to be based at receiving medical centers in larger cities. He added that, "it is a compliment that a majority of the industry has [since then] changed its model to be community-based, too."
