Following recent FAA authorization, Metro is introducing electronic flight bags to its fleet. Metro partnered with Complete Flight to implement the EFBs' enterprise software, which will provide pilots access to charts, maps, company manuals and a variety of weather and flight planning resources—all kept current through central control and verified updates. Metro’s operational control flight authorization process, passenger manifests, pilot qualification tracking, aircraft weight and balance, pilot scheduling and FAA data reporting functions will all be accomplished through Complete Flight’s web-based applications. Metro tested the EFBs' functionality during a comprehensive six-month evaluation using each type of aircraft the company owns. Now that the the trial period is over, Metro will distribute two Apple iPads to each of the more than 120 aircraft in its fleet.
