Turbomeca partner Global Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd is working on developing its own capability to manufacture helicopter parts and tooling in Malaysia within a year, according to that country’s national news agency. Bernama said Oct. 18 that the plans are based on a proposal to produce engine parts for the Malaysia military. It quoted GTA Chairman and CEO Dato' Nonee Aspirin Dato'Mohd Radzi as saying the company aims “to produce the parts in a year's time at our facility in Subang” on the western coast of peninsular Malaysia. GTA began in 2009 through an agreement between Turbomeca Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. and Helipartner Sdn Bhd to set up a maintenance center. GTA says it is the sole distributor in Malaysia of spares parts, Levels 1, 2 and 3 repairs and overhaul of Turbomeca engines powering AgustaWestland, Airbus Helicopters and Sikorsky Aircraft helicopters.
