Scores of police aviation crewmembers will get firsthand experience with simulated flight training for light helicopters when they visit Metro Aviation next week. Metro's Helicopter Flight Training Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, will host the Airborne Law Enforcement Assn.’s Central Region Safety Seminar from Nov. 3 to 5. During the three-day event, Metro will give seminar attendees free access to the center's FAA-certified EC135 Level D full-motion simulator, and AS350 Level 7 and Bell 407/GX Level 7 flight training devices. (Transport Canada earlier this year also certified the EC135 sim and AS350 FTD; the 407 FTD went operational earlier this month). More than 50 pilots and tactical flight officers, among others, are expected to attend the event (which will also include a presentation on inadvertent entry into instrument meteorological conditions by the Airbus Training Academy). For mechanics attending the seminar, Metro will offer free Inspection Authorization renewal training.
