Amref Flying Doctors has extended its subscription coverage for medevac services to locations in Uganda following successful talks with Uganda’s chamber of commerce. The organization has long provided Maisha Air Ambulance coverage in Kenya, Tanzania and other East African nations for helicopter or fixed-wing evacuation in case of a serious illness or an accident and subsequent transport to a hospital in the region. (Maisha means life in Swahili, according to the group.) Flying Doctors is owned by Amref Health Africa, a leading international health development non-governmental organization based in Africa and headquartered in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi. (Amref stands for African Medical Research Foundation.) Other nations served are Ethiopia, Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan and Zanzibar.
