Korea Aerospace Industries has completed development of the maritime variant of its Surion utility helicopter for the Korea Marine Corps, the company said. The variant’s attributes include a foldable main rotor to allow the aircraft to be hangared onboard ships and two additional fuel tanks for a total of six. Work on the maritime Surion began in July 2013, according to KAI, adding that it performed its maiden flight in January and entered eight months of marine-environment certification.
