Airbus Helicopters' U.K. division has been selected by Ascent as the aircraft service provider for the U.K.'s Military Flying Training System. The $727 million contract calls for Airbus to deliver aircraft and an integrated support solution over 18 months to begin training April 2018.

As part of the contract, Airbus Helicopters will supply a fleet of H135 and H145 capable of delivering the 28,000 hr per year necessary to meet the training requirement. This contract makes the U.K. the first country that will receive Airbus' advanced avionics kit, the newly updated H135 Helionix.
