Yamaha Motor Corp. has launched the first operation of its RMAX remotely piloted helicopter for agriculture spraying in Napa Valley, California, at a vineyard management company. The RMAX applied a fungicide to prevent a type of mildew common in grapes. The drone received FAA certification in late April 2015, though it has been in use in Japan for years. That FAA approval only applies to Yamaha's RMAX.
