Safran Helicopter Engines will supply engines for the training rotary-wing aircraft under the U.K.'s Military Flying Training System program. Safran will provide Arrius 2B2Plus and Arriel 2E turbines for Airbus Helicopters H135s and H145s.

U.K. military pilots have already been using Safran engines on the Gazelle and Squirrel for four decades, according to Safran's CEO, Bruno Even.

The Arrius 2B2Plus performs well in hot-and-high conditions, allowing the H135 to carry more payload at the same altitude.
