Leonardo-Finmeccanica delivered an AW GrandNew helicopter to the vice president of Panama, the company said. The aircraft will be used in Panama for emergency medical services. The VP was presented with the aircraft during a visit to the company's main helicopter final assembly lines.

Leonardo has been awarded several major Panamanian government programs, including contracts for a digital mapping system supplied by Telespazio and AW139 helicopters used for homeland security duties and utility transport.

Leonardo also has provided the automation, command and control system for the waterways of the Panama Canal. The additions allows the transfer of ships with more than 13,000 containers.
