Sikorsy has been awarded a $232 million contract for the procurement of two CH-53K King Stallion system demonstration test article aircraft for the Navy, according to the U.S. Defense Dept.
Announced on Friday, this contract has been given to Sikorsky's Stratford, Connecticut, facility. It will be carried out in various locations across the U.S. and one in the U.K. Of the $232 million, $11,250,000 was given at the time of the award. All work outlined in the contract is expected to be completed in February 2020.
Sikorsky is currently developing the CH-53K for the Marine Corps' heavy-lift helicopter program. In March, a second aircraft
has entered the three-year program.
