Contrary to what might be happening elsewhere in the rotorcraft industry, Ireland-based Lease Corp. International (LCI) is having its most successful year since its founding in 2004, according to a company news release. With 35 helicopters in its lease portfolio, the company plans to add five more before the end of the year.
Operating a fleet largely comprised of Leonardo AW139s, AW169s and AW189s, LCI has also seen growth in customer base and operation. At year's end, the lessor will have received 18 new rotorcraft. LCI leases for emergency medical services, offshore wind energy servicing and search and rescue, among other operations. EMS is currently its fastest growing sector.
LCI, which is an arm of the Libra Group, recently delivered the first of three AW169 to Elitaliana SpA to support its EMS and SAR missions. The twin-turbine light-intermediate aircraft can accommodate up to 10 passengers. It's the first new helicopter in its weight category to enter the market in more than 30 years.
The business has grown internally to match its external growth with the creation of six new positions. LCI now has a new VP of marketing and five executives in operations, legal and financial departments. Its growing fleet of delivered, on order and under management helicopters is 90-strong and also features the Airbus Helicopters H175 alongside its Leonardo rotorcraft.
