The German operator Helicopter Travel Munich signed for one Airbus Helicopters H145 for offshore wind farm support work at Helitech International in Amsterdam this week, the manufacturer said.
HTM plans to operate the new twin – to be delivered in December 2017 – from its bases at Emden, Norden, Borkum and Helgoland, serving offshore wind farms in the German Bight in the southeastern North Sea.
The German operator has been using H135s in offshore wind missions since 2009. The H145 will be added to a fleet of 11 in the H135 family.
“We believe the H145 is the right helicopter to respond to the increasing demand for hoisting helicopters with larger transport capacity and dual pilot operation, especially for wind farms increasingly further out to sea,” said HTM Managing Director Bernd Brucherseifer.
