A product of the Russian-Indian summit held last weekend in Goa, India, Rostec and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) have signed an agreement to create a joint venture for Kamov Ka-226s. This agreement stems from a December 2015 intergovernmental agreement, according to Russian Helicopters.

This new agreement between HAL, Russian Helicopters and Rosoboronexport is set to localize the production and supply of 200 Kamovs over nine years. The first 60 helicopters are to be produced in Russia. Maintenance, repair and overhaul services are also included in the deal.

The Kamov Ka-226 is a light multipurpose rotorcraft that can carry up to six people. It’s powered by Arrius 2G1 and has a coaxial main rotor with no tail rotor.
