A new agreement with Leonardo should allow Norway’s Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace to provide dynamic component maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) for dynamic components of the NHIndustries NH-90 and the Leonardo AW101, Kongsberg said. This agreement covers a fleet of more than 100 helicopters in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Canada.

Leonardo and Kongsberg have been working together for more than 30 years. Kongsberg said that this relationship extension could bring more than $312 million over the next three decades. The establishment of advanced test equipment is also included in the agreement, which would enable gearbox testing.

A 2013 contract between Leonardo and the Norwegian Ministry of Justice and Public Security called for the delivery of 16 Leonardo AW101s for search and rescue, with the option for six additional aircraft. NHIndustries is owned by Airbus Helicopters, the principal shareholder, along with Leonardo and Fokker Aerostructures.
