Shell Offshore Taps Bristow for SAR, Joins Consortium

Shell Offshore Inc. has awarded Bristow U.S. LLC a contract for medevac, and search and rescue services in the Gulf of Mexico, Bristow said on March 21. As part of the contract, Shell is to join Bristow’s search and rescue consortium, which aims to provide service and lifesaving capability to members while reducing overall associated costs. Bristow plans to fulfill the contract with a Sikorsky S-92 and a Leonardo AW139. The rotorcraft are to operated from its standalone search and rescue facility at the South Lafourche Airport in Galliano, Louisiana.

Rosoboronexport plans to sign a contract with India for the delivery of 48 Russian Helicopters Mi-17V-5s, news outlets reported. Rostec Director for International Cooperation and Regional Policy Victor Kladov reportedly made this statement during the event in Malaysia.

MD Helicopters expects to deliver the first of its 530G light scout aircraft to the Malaysian Army before the end of 2017, the company told reporters. The first two have been certificated, and the next four are coming into build, it said.

Airod formally handed over its proof-of-concept Sikorsky S-61A4 Nuri with upgraded avionics during the event, reports said. The company is under contract to upgrade 14 more Sikorsky Nuris.

Elbit Receives U.S. Navy deal for MH-60 HDTS, Line Items

Elbit Systems of America is set to deliver helmet display tracker systems and associated line items for the U.S. Navy for the Sikorsky MH-60 Seahawk, the U.S. Defense Dept. said March 22. The contract covers a maximum quantity of 126 displays. Work is to be performed in Fort Worth, Texas, with an expected completion date of June 2021. Elbit secured this deal through a non-competitive process.

Leonardo Delivers to the Philippines, More Deliveries Scheduled

Leonardo has delivered one AW119Kx and one GrandNew to corporate customers in the Philippines, the manufacturer said March 23. The delivery of the first Leonardo AW169 sold in the Philippines and another Leonardo AW139 are expected in the next few months. Those two rotorcraft would be used for VIP transport.

Russian Helicopters to Deliver First Batch of Mi-28UBs Before 2018

Russian Helicopters’ Mi-28UB has passed state joint tests, the manufacturer said on March 24. The rotorcraft, which is a combat training modification of the Russian Helicopters Mi-28N Night Hunter attack aircraft, is designated for Russian defense. Russian Helicopters Deputy General Director of Sales Vladislav Savelyev said delivery of the first production batch is “scheduled for 2017.”
