CHC Helicopter has begun providing services to the Australian Navy base at Nowra in New South Wales, the operator said. The 15-month contract covers aviation emergency response services. It now provides search and rescue, air medical and crash response services to all three of the Australian Defence Force services.

One contract covering all Australian military services could start next year. Until then, provision of the interim search and rescue, air medical and crash response services are to be delivered at Nowra. From there, CHC is operating a Leonardo AW139 to support aircrew training and Royal Australian Navy fleet exercises.

“CHC is very proud to be awarded this interim contract with the Australian Navy and to be able to stand service up quickly for them,” said Vince D’Rozario, regional director of CHC Asia Pacific. “I would like to thank the Navy for the opportunity to serve them and recognize our experienced team at CHC who put this service together with speed and professionalism.”
