Russian Helicopters and state-owned Iran Helicopter Support & Renewal Co. (IHSRC) have signed a memorandum of understanding for an assembly facility, Russian Helicopters said. Signed at HeliRussia 2017, the memorandum sets forth principles and approaches for the project.

The assembly line would be for light helicopters. The memorandum also regulates the procedure for retrofitting, modernization and IHSRC enterprise authorization to build the light helicopters.

"This memorandum is a serious step, which significantly brings us closer to the realization of the project for the assembly of light helicopter at the facilities of our Iranian colleagues,” said Andrey Bogisnky, general director of Russian Helicopters. “Demand for light-class helicopters in Iran is extremely high. We note the large number of potential operators of the machinery, which allows us to hope for the absolute success of the project and the imminent conclusion of the contract."

IHSRC is the only company that is certificated to repair Mi helicopters in Iran. It is hoping to become on of the largest service, repair and modernization centers in the Middle East, according to Russian Helicopters.
