Russian Helicopters Awards Engineering Contest Winners During HeliRussia

During HeliRussia 2017, Russian Helicopters said it awarded the winners of its helicopters of the 21st Century 2017 engineering contest — the ninth edition of the award. Students attending technical high schools in Russia, as well as young professionals, were eligible to participate.

Six teams were awarded in three categories: design development, design works and development of new technologies for production of aircraft structures. A cash prize was provided, along with the chance for an internship with a Russian Helicopters facility in the students’ fields.


"Today, the rate of technological progress is growing every day, and in particular this applies to the sphere of aircraft building. [For] successful development in a competitive international market, Russian Helicopter needs young, innovation-oriented professionals who are ready to offer a new design and technological solutions,” said Andrew Boginsky, Russian Helicopters general director. “Professional development of young engineers, engage and keep them in the industry is for us one of the most important tasks in human resource management. We consider the work with children and youth as a long-term investment and planning to develop this direction.”

The manufacturer also noted that it recognized companies that submitted projects. Topics included, “the main helicopter gearbox running in ‘dry mode,’” and “development of proposals for the modernization of the civil helicopter, in order to reduce the cost of flight hours while maintaining performance characteristics.”
