Russian Helicopters Produces First New-Variant Night Hunters

The first batch of Russian Helicopters Mi-28UBs has been produced, the manufacturer said. The Mi-28UBs is the new version of the Mi-28N Night Hunter.

"The production of the first batch of Mi-28UB is an extremely important event not only for [Russian Helicopters], but also for our colleagues from the Ministry of Defense, and soon the supply of the modernized Night Hunter will begin,” said Andrei Boginsky, Russian Helicopters chief. “The Mi-28 proved its effectiveness, so we expect that the combat training version of this helicopter will be extremely demanded by the troops.”


The main difference in the new version of the aircraft, Russian Helicopters said, is that the Mi-28UB has a dual-control system. It can be piloted from the pilot-in-command cockpit, or the pilot-operator. Ergonomics have also been improved, with new armchair designs. The avionics have also been improved. It can be used to support ground forces and anti-tank defense.

Russian Helicopters said it expects to deliver eight of the new helicopters before the end of the year.
