Lord Corp. has begun construction on a new facility at Pont de L’Isère, France, the company said. The center is to house aerospace electromechanical systems, including Lord’s fly-by-wire product line. Design, development, qualification, certification and manufacturing of advanced cockpit controls, sensors, dampers and electromechanical actuators are to take place at the new facility.

“Our investment in the region — which exceeds 10 million Euros — is consistent with the globalization strategy Lord has previously announced for our electromechanical systems, including the fly-by-wire product line,” said Ed Auslander, president and CEO of Lord. “The new facility will be the largest Lord site in Europe by number of employees.”

Lord expects the new facility to be operational in August 2018. It will replace Lord’s current facility, located in Saint-Vallier. The new site will be nearly 30% larger and employ all 160 employees from the old facility.
