Bell Helicopter President and CEO Mitch Snyder was with U.S. President Donald Trump for a portion of his visit to Asia. Snyder was part of Trump’s trade mission because Bell was going to sell 50 aircraft to a Chinese customer.

Reignwood International Investment Group Company Ltd., which has been set to own the most 505 Jet Ranger Xs in the world since March, has purchased 50 more. Bell said the company also agreed to act as the exclusive reseller for the 505 in China and establish a 505 delivery and maintenance center. Now, Reignwood is set to own 110 505s.

“Between Shaanxi Helicopter’s order for 100 Bell 407GXPs and Reignwood’s purchase agreements for 110 Bell 505s, demand for Bell helicopters in China has surged this year,” Snyder said. “This signature solidifies our relationship with Reignwood and our commitment to develop the commercial rotorcraft industry in China.”

Bell has received orders for more than 200 commercial helicopters this year from Chinese customers alone.

Monday the manufacturer announced that the 505’s type certification had been accepted by the Agentina Administracion Nacional de Aviacion Civil. The aircraft has also been certificated by Transport Canada as of December 2016 and the FAA as of June.

According to news reports, Trump arrived in Beijing Wednesday as part of his 12-day, five-country tour of Asia. Reports say he is set to arrive in Vietnam Friday.
