The Public Security Directorate of Qingdao is getting two medium helicopters for its fire department. Russian Helicopters said at the end of December that it had completed manufacturing two Ka-32A11BCs and had shipped them to the Chinese customer.

"Russian helicopters, and especially the Ka-32A11BC, are popular with Chinese customers due to their performance characteristics and wide application possibilities,” said Alexander Shcherbinin, deputy general director for marketing and business development at Russian Helicopters. “We expect that soon the portfolio of orders for this helicopter will expand."

The manufacturer said it delivered five Ka-32A11BCs to Chinese customers during 2017. It is also currently under contract to ship five more internationally. That includes Thailand and Turkey, which would be first-time buyers of the model.

Featuring a coaxial rotor, the Ka-32A11BC is designed to perform search and rescue, high-altitude operation, firefighting, cargo transport, medevac and other missions. Russian Helicopters said Qingdao’s security directorate would use the helicopters for firefighting and rescue operations.
