Germany aviation company Autoflug has joined Sikorsky's heavy-lift transport CH-53K helicopter competition for the German armed forces.

The CH-53K is competing in the succession for Sikorsky's CH-53 GS/GA that is currently flown in Germany. Based in Rellingen, Autoflug manufactures aircraft seats, mission equipment for medevac and auxiliary fuel systems. It is developing safety seats for current Germany helicopter fleets to improve crash safety. The system, according to the company, have low weight and are quick to fit and remove.

The company plans to present a prototype of a troop seat and a tank solution for range extension of the aircraft at ILA Berlin Air Show April 25 to 29. Other competitors will also exhibit their potential products for the program. The manufacturer has recruited another Germany company to provide maintenance, repair and overhaul of the aircraft's engine.
