Qatar to Modernize Military Helicopter Fleet With NH90s

Airbus Helicopters secured a new contract that will provide 28 NH90 helicopters to Qatar, as the Middle Eastern nation looks to modernize its military fleet. Under the contract, Qatar Armed Forces Air Academy will receive 16 Airbus H125 light single-engine helicopters in training configuration.

The agreement, which includes 16 NH90s in tactical transport (TTH) configuration and 12 NH90s in naval (NFH) configuration, according to Airbus. The contract was announced during DIMDEX, a defense exhibition in Qatar.


Leonardo is acting as the prime contractor for the program, while Airbus will provide final assembly and delivery of the 16 NH90s from its facility in Marignane, France, while Leonardo will be responsible for final assembly and delivery of the 12 NH90 NFH helicopters from its Venice – Tessera facility in Northern Italy.

Airbus did not indicate when deliveries of the new helicopters are scheduled to begin.
