CHC Group made two announcements this week for contract extensions in the North Sea and Australia.

CHC has signed a two-year contract extension with Aker BP to support its in-field shuttle at the greater Valhall field in the Norwegian North Sea.

The contract will run until September 2021. CHC will provide two Airbus Helicopters AS332Ls for this operation. One will be located offshore on the Valhall PH platform and the other, a back-up aircraft, will be based at Sola.

CHC Group also has signed a 30-month contract continuation with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) to provide search and rescue services at five bases around Australia.

As part of the continuation, six new-generation Leonardo AW139 aircraft will replace the service’s current Sikorsky S-76 fleet.

The first of these aircraft have already been introduced at the base in East Sale and a further five will be rolled out throughout 2018.

The AW139 aircraft will be search-and-rescue configured with four-axis auto hover, allowing them to hover over water at night. The crews will also use white phosphorus night-vision technology. Other AW139 aircraft with these capabilities have been in service with the Australian Navy since May 2017.
